
Hi, I'm Peta.
I’m so pleased you’re here because I know how hard it is to explore getting help, especially when you’ve spent a lifetime feeling that somehow everyone else’s situation or needs were more important than your own.
I also know how it feels to not understand why nothing feels right. You do everything ‘correctly’, follow the ‘right’ path, but it doesn't feel like you, not that you actually know who 'you’ is. I was drawn to counselling because this is how I lived too, and I know how long you can remain stuck when you don't have anyone to help you make sense of it.
Eventually the time came when, I chose to take back control. I decided to understand why these cycles keep repeating in my life and find out how I could start living my life as me. This was the catalyst not only for my own transformation but led to me knowing that I wanted to help other women who are right now, where I was then and show them what’s possible.
I hold a Master of Counselling, Bachelor in Psychological Science and am a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA Level 2). Most importantly, I bring lived experience to my work. I know what it feels like to find your way back to yourself.
My purpose is to help others understand themselves, to hold space and guide them while they re-discover who they are. Trauma is experienced differently by everyone and can shape us in ways we don’t understand. I can help you to start to understand it, uncover your hidden strength and how to use for your benefit moving forward.

We all repeat unconscious patterns. Saltbush Counselling helps you to understand why, empowering you to groww beyond it, reconnect with yourself and build a life that's truly yours. It maybe from the impact of childhood experiences, relationships that left them doubting their own thoughts and feelings, or life changes like parenthood and aging. Based in Australia and available via telehealth, I work with people who feel like they keep repeating the same cycle, feel disconnected, or like they've spent a lifetime being shaped by everyone else's needs, expectations, or control.
Together we will work to build your resilience, empowering you to start exploring what you want your life to look like and find the way forward through the obstacles. I’m here to support you with reflection, guidance and insights both as a counsellor and as someone with lived experience.

As a registered trauma counsellor, I am continually reminded that when people are offered a safe and supportive space, healing can begin. I would be honoured to share this space with you.
I believe our sessions should be as unique as you are. I work in a person centred manner, using a variety of evidence-based techniques, holistically integrating them to your requirements, helping you to feel understood and empowered. These include:
Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) - helps you identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns affecting how you feel and behave
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) - builds practical skills for managing overwhelming emotions
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) - helps you to make space for difficult feelings and move towards a meaningful life
Motivational Interviewing - supports you recognise your own motivation for change
Solution-Focused Therapy - helps you focus on where you want to be, rather than staying stuck in the past
Narrative Therapy - supports you to step back from old stories and reconnect with your strengths and values
